Mountain Institute entered its third year of operation in July 2011. Our Mission Statement indicates that we have a charge to, “coordinate resources leading to positive growth and change in Career and Technical Education Programs throughout Western Yavapai County.” The Governing Board, Administration, Staff, Mountain Advisory Committee and Partners have worked diligently these past two years to fulfill the stated Mission. Student enrollment in 2009-10 was over 1500 students; in 2010-11 over 2600 students; current student enrollment is 1500 students. Two of our high schools have their 1st Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs in many years. As a result of our Growth and Sustainability Grants, three high schools will qualify for conditional Arizona Dept. of Education approval for the next 2 years while they now can qualify for state and federal monies to further enhance their program. New programs including Allied Health/Sports Medicine and Precision Machining (Pre-Engineering/Robotics) will provide new educational opportunities for students in the 2011-12 school year.
Expansion program areas may include: Industrial Plant; Medical Equipment Repair; and Fixed Wing Flight.
The JTED is pleased to partner with local community organizations and agencies. A Community Advisory Council has been formed with representatives from Business, Industry, Government, Health Care, and Hospitality industries to help provide program direction for the JTED. We will be developing a Strategic Plan with community partners. This plan will enable us to extend our Vision and Goals over the next 5 to 10 years and incorporate the ideas of stakeholders |
