Michael Moneymaker, a junior from Chino Valley High School and a Pre-Engineering program student with Mountain Institute Joint Technical Education District, was recognized at the February 15 Governing Board meeting for earning a perfect score on the ESA-4 exam from the International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET). The above photo shows Superintendent Ray Polvani presenting the certificate.
“That’s really an achievement,” emphasized instructor Richard Peters of Yavapai College. “Michael took the Electronic Systems Associate (ESA-4) exam and aced the digital test.
“There are four of these exams,” added Peters. “If all are passed, the applicant is automatically certified as an Associate-level Certified Electronics Technician by ISCET. Michael passed the first part with flying colors. In my opinion, this young man is a born engineer.”

Mountain Institute Welcomes Two New Board Members
Mountain Institute JTED Superintendent Ray Polvani is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Beth Cummins and Ms. LaBeth Pondish to the MI JTED Governing Board.
Ms. Cummins will represent the Bagdad Unified School District. The board vacancy was due to the resignation of Tony Carroll, who left due to an employment move. Ms. Cummins is an IT and Communications Specialist employed with the Bagdad USD as IT Director.
Ms. Pondish will represent the Humboldt Unified School District. The vacancy was due to the resignation of veteran Board Member Thomas Liuzzo, who developed a conflict with his church activities and family commitments. Ms. Pondish has been a resident of the district for four years. She taught English for 31 years primarily with the La Ponte Independent School District in Texas, before relocating to Prescott Valley. In retirement, she has supervised secondary student teachers for Prescott College.
The two new board members will be sworn in by Chairman Roger Harlow at the January 11, 2012 Governing Board meeting. Students in the program can earn 20 college credits and finish with an associate's degree at Yavapai College. Their tuition is paid for by JTED for the first two years.
