Gain a foundation to launch your medical career

You’ll gain a strong foundation that prepares you to enter the critical field of medicine and gain medical assistant certification. Learn about common diseases and disorders, their prevention, diagnosis and treatment, as well as emerging diseases and new biomedical therapies. Master vital skills including the measuring and recording of vital signs and the performance of CPR, AED, and First Aid.

LENGTH OF PROGRAM:

2 years, 360 hours
**Year One, Medical Assisting I; Year Two, Medical Assisting II

GRADE LEVEL REQUIREMENT:

Junior – Senior

PREREQUISITE:

Compass Reading Test: 70

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

MIJTED Scrubs

CREDITS:

Up to 5 High School credits over two years, up to 13 Yavapai College credits over two years.

**Yavapai College credits earned lead directly to one of nine Allied Health Associate Degrees or certifications.
**Friday Courses do not earn as many credits.

INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS:

CPR Certification, First Responder First Aid Certification, National Consortium for Health Science Education Certification (NCHSE), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

CLASS SCHEDULE:

There are three program offerings for Year 1 – Medical Assisting I.

  • Monday – Thursday Courses
    1:15 – 3:45pm plus 1 hour a week online (Priority to 5 day schools)
  • Monday – Thursday Courses
    6:45 – 9:15am plus 1 hour a week online (Priority to 4 day schools)
  • Friday Courses
    8:00am – 1:00pm plus 5 hours a week online

There is one program offerings for Year 2 – Medical Assisting II.

  • Monday – Thursday I 1:15 – 3:45pm plus 1 hour a week online

STUDENT BENEFITS:
