Community

Mountain Institute JTED has developed partnerships with local and regional schools, businesses, industries and government agencies to assist in program development and delivery.  Mountain Institute has developed a Community Advisosry Council comprised of Business, Industry and Agency representatives that meet quarterly.  The group serves in an advisory capacity to monitor program and strategic planning progress.

The seven-member Governing Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.  The meeting is located at the district offices, 3003 Centerpointe East Drive in Prescott.  Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m.; the public is always invited. (Call office at 928.771.0791 to confirm date/time.)

Following are some additional highlights regarding community activities:

  • Mountain Institute (MI) has created an on-going dialogue with Yavapai College to ensure communication and potential coordination of program and activities
  • MI staff developed a pilot program with the Yavapai County Juvenile Detention Office and NACOG to establish a program that would provide educational direction and opportunities to youth currently under the supervision of the Juvenile Probation Office.  The purpose is to create a Career Pathway and educational program leading toward a high school diploma and industry certification as appropriate
  • Dialog has started with Old Dominion University and Northern Arizona University to establish partnerships that might include distance learning program articulation with Yavapai College that could lead to a 4-year degree program.

Presentations to community groups occur on a regular basis:  Mountain Institute staff is happy to provide community groups presentations on the JTED concept and programs.  Past presentations have included:  Yavapai Contractor’s Association, Project SLIM; Frontier Rotary Club; Prescott Sun-Up Rotary; “Hot Topics”-a local TV program provided by the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce;  Co-Sponsor ship of Yavapai College CTEC Career Day, Booths at Prescott Valley Job Fair and County Fair.
