A career in the field of Culinary Arts may be for you. In this program you’ll learn culinary arts application and hospitality through the focus of American and International cuisine, using professional cooking and baking methods. Students will become proficient in menu planning, use of equipment and time management practices for meal service. The Culinary Arts program is one of MIJTED’s many voc tech programs.

LENGTH OF PROGRAM:

2 years

GRADE LEVEL REQUIREMENT:

Junior – Senior

PREREQUISITES:

None

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

  • MIJTED Culinary Jacket (name embroidery option available)
  • Non-Slip Shoes

CLASS SCHEDULE:

There are two program offerings.

  • Monday – Thursday Courses I 1:45 – 4:15pm plus 1 hour a week online (Priority to 5 day schools)
  • Friday Courses I 8:00am – 1:00pm plus 5 hours a week online (Priority to 4 day schools)

CREDITS:

Up to 5 High School credits over two years

**Friday Courses do not earn as many credits

INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Food Handler’s Card
  • Safe Serve Certification

STUDENT BENEFITS:

  • Enables students to make career decisions consistent with their aptitudes, interests, abilities, and academic achievement.
  • Provides a program of instruction that prepares students for post-secondary education and/or for employment.
  • Transferable credits to College or University.
    Industry skills development experience and certification take straight to workforce.
